May 2014 - Doused in Pink - wearable everyday style, beauty & DIY home decor

June Pin-spired

It's time for the monthly Get Pin-Spired linkup!  June is around the corner and while we have mostly had beautiful warm weather, there are still days that I need to wear jeans and a sometimes a jacket. My favorite Pin-spired looks this month are a mix for both cooler and warmer temperatures.

DIY Mason Jar Patio Lights

Memorial Day is the official kick off to summer and my favorite thing to do is sit on the patio and relax with my family and friends.  In past years, I have always used small lanterns for lighting but then I found the idea for mason jar lighting here: 3GLOL.

This was an inexpensive project and only took a few minutes to make. I'll repeat the easy steps that are on 3GLOL, below.

Supplies needed:

Mason jars
Small solar lights
Glass gems or marbles

eShakti Hula Girl Halter Dress

eShakti recently contacted me and asked me to style and review one of their dresses. One of the unique features about this online clothing retailer is that you can either order off their standard sizing charts or enter your measurements for a custom fit.  You pick your style, sizing option, and from there you can choose the length, and make adjustments to the sleeves and neckline.

Everyday Style - What I Wore

Hope all of the Mom's out there had a wonderful Mother's Day and were able to do something special for yourself or with your family!  We had beautiful weather and I had the perfect weekend. On Friday I had to go into one of our stores for work so I wore the outfit on the left in the morning. I picked up my daughter from a school trip in the afternoon and we went out for dinner so I added a tee and converse for the more casual look on the right.  I love that this skirt has pockets!

DIY Fabric Bulletin Board

I've been wanting to make a bulletin board for my daughter's room and since I had the whole house to myself one night earlier this week, it was the perfect time to have fun with some DIY.  At first, I was planning on using an old picture frame, some fabric and cardboard.  Then I remembered we had an plain bulletin board somewhere in the basement that I could update instead.

Everyday Style - What I Wore

It's finally May and with the fluctuating weather, it was hard to know what to wear the past several days.  I'm following three Instagram challenges this month.  Two of them have daily outfit themes.  The other is a shopping ban.  I thought it would be fun to try coordinating the two themes together and since I have most of my summer staples, the third might be easy. Here is a recap of what I wore the past several days.

Thursday
For it being May 1st, it sure was cold outside.  I only followed one theme and it was Make a Statement.  I wore a red floral statement necklace and mixed prints with the floral shirt and animal print flats.

May Pin-spired

It's May and I'm hoping mother nature will get the memo so Spring can finally arrive. There have been more days where I still need a winter coat than I have been able to wear shorts. I had so much fun recreating outfits last month for Pin-spired, I decided to do it again. Linking up with Pinterest Told Me ToMix and Match Family and The Larson Lingo.  I recreated these looks on the days I was not wearing an April Style Challenge themed outfit.  All of my recreations are with items already in my closet.

Pin-spiration #1
Blue Maxi Dress, blue wedges, yellow cardigan

My Recreation

Love this look on Jessica Alba.  The fedora hat is on my wish list for summer.
I don't have a yellow cardi but I thought the mint looked great with the bright blue.
