Everyday Style

I can't believe it's almost the end of July!  It seems like summer just started.  We had the most exhausting weekend with the Illinois Regional swim meet but our daughter did great and even took home a medal in one of her distance events!

No better way to start off the week by taking the afternoon off to hang out at a friend's pool! The only downside was starting work at the crack of dawn so I could leave early but it was a 90 degree day and so nice to be in the sun and water.  That evening I had a board meeting and dressed up my pink polka dot sweatshirt with a few silver necklaces and metallic sandals.

July Favorites

July has been full of surprises! Here are my favorites...

Pam Cooking Spray

I saw this tip on Pinterest.  When your doing an at home mani, spray Pam cooking spray on your nails after your topcoat to finish.  Your nails will be dry in less than a minute.  I tried this and it worked!

Clarsonic

My Mom gave this to me as a gift for cutting her lawn this summer.  I had always heard great things about the Clarsonic and I absolutely love it!  My skin has never felt cleaner!

Everyday Style

If you have been following my blog, you know that one of the reasons I started it was to start wearing all the great things in my closet instead of my workout wear.  To make sure I do this, I take photo's of my everyday outfits.  It's been a few weeks since I had an Everyday Style recap so today's post is sharing what I've been wearing.

Sometimes when it is super hot, skirts are more comfortable than shorts.  I like the high/low hem of this skirt and to keep it simple, added a tank and flip flops.

Peach & Prosciutto Crostini

Peach Crostini is one of my favorite go to summer appetizers.  It's a fresh change from a tomato crostini or bruschetta and it's quick and easy to make.  You can find several variations of this online and below is the recipe I have been using for many years.  I made this twice in the past week: for a happy hour and an outdoor concert. It's always a hit!

Summer Maxi Dressed Up & Down

I've mentioned before that I'm a huge fan of the maxi dress!  They are stylish, comfy and chic.  They can take you from work to play to an evening out.  The key to this effortless look is how you style it.  I'm styling my favorite maxi dress three ways to show casual, sporty and dressed up looks.

Look 1 - Casual
For a fun, casual look, I paired the maxi with an infinity scarf, fedora and flat sandals.

Homemade Mac & Cheese

Summer is supposed to be a slower pace where we can relax, check some projects off our to do lists and spend time with family and friends.  With busy schedules and kids activities, this never seems to be the case.  We have not sat down as a family for dinner in weeks.  The temperatures have been cooler and it's been rainy the past few days, so I thought it would be the perfect time to make some homemade mac and cheese.  I served it with skirt steak that the Hubs grilled on the smoker and a caesar salad with homemade caesar dressing and croutons.

This is an easy recipe that you make in the slow cooker and it only cooks for a few hours. I found the original recipe here and made some adjustments to make it tastier and a tiny bit healthier.

All Decked Out in Red, White & Blue

I'm looking forward to a relaxed July 4th this year!  I'm planning on sleeping in, having breakfast on the patio and then head over to the lake with my family to paddleboard and kayak.  In the afternoon we are going to a BBQ and then will end the day with fireworks.  A low key day calls for a likewise outfit, and this striped tee and white shorts fits the bill.  I added the floral scarf and red bracelet to tie in the red, white and blue.
