What I Wore - Fall Style Challenge Week 2

The Fall Style Challenge that is hosted by Alison at Get Your Pretty On is still going strong. It was another week of easy, stylish outfits put together for me, which took the stress out of getting dressed.

Day 10: long cardi, solid tee, plaid scarf, boyfriend jeans, oxfords.
I love to pattern mix so I traded the solid tee for a striped one.

Day 11: puffer vest, striped tee, dark wash jeans, leopard scarf, riding boots.

Day 12: neutral sweater, solid tee, leggings, leopard flats.
I swapped the leopard flats for a leopard scarf and wore booties.

Day 13: puffer vest, plaid shirt, gray jeans, riding boots.

Day 14: striped tee, dark wash jeans, leopard flats, military jacket.
I swapped out the tee for a striped blouse.

Day 15: dressy sweatshirt, gray jeans, ankle boots.

What's your favorite outfit this week?

Thanks for joining me today!

Holy Chic! Two Ways to Style Graphic Tees

Today I'm teaming up with my friend, Susan from Charming Lucy, to show you how we are styling this fun Holy Chic graphic tee from Old Navy.

Graphic tee's are everywhere right now and this trend is one that is going to stick around for awhile. Graphic tees are not just for jeans and sneakers. They are versatile and can be dressed up or down, they work for every body type and you can find them at every price point.

This sassy tee adds a fun element to a basic maxi skirt. The all black and white outfit has an effortless feel and is something that can go from work to dinner.

How do you like to style your graphic tees?

Thanks for stopping by and reading today!  I hope you will come back soon!

October Ipsy Bag Review

Happy Friday!  It's time for my monthly review of the Ipsy Glam Bag. If you aren't familiar with Ipsy, it's is a monthly beauty and makeup subscription where you get five full or deluxe size samples of a variety of products and a cute makeup bag all for $10! Once again I scored with my Ipsy bag! You never know what you’ll get and I’ve been lucky to receive a great selection of products almost every month so far. Here's what I got in mine in October:

Noyah Lipstick
I always love a deep rich plum lip for fall and the color Deeply in Mauve, fit the bill.  It was hydrating and lasted  several hours without having to reapply. It's made of all natural ingredients, which is a plus!

What I Wore - Fall Style Challenge Week 1

If you are a regular reader, you’ll remember that I wrote about joining the Fall Style Me Pretty Challenge here.  It was a no-brainer signing up because I thought what better way to get my wardrobe ready for fall. When I received the shopping list I was happily surprised that I had every single piece already in my closet, and the list included some of the items I just purchased in September.  One of the things I struggled with before I started this blog was building outfits. I would buy things because I liked them or they were on sale, but never had any idea on how to style them, so they would sit unworn.  The style challenge gives you several ideas on how to wear the same piece different ways and who doesn’t want someone planning your outfits for you for 3 weeks? The fall style challenge is now underway and here’s what I’ve been wearing the first week.

Fall Home Tour

I love Halloween and when I decorate for fall, I make sure that I can easily incorporate my Halloween decor so I'm all set through Thanksgiving. I’m strangely obsessed about getting holiday decorations out on schedule, and this year we had to paint our front porch so we were a little behind. Inside, I keep the decor mostly fall themed with a few Halloween decorations scattered in between. Outside, our yard is always turned into a graveyard or a scary scene to make trick or treating more fun! One thing that I always forget to do is take photos. Since there is a good chance we will be moving next summer, I wanted to make sure I took plenty of photos of our home so we have something to look back at later.

Fall Home Decor Ideas and Home Tour

So here we go on a little home tour:

August & September Budget Recap

One of my favorite things about fall is the fashion; I usually don't purchase many things in the summer months so that I can add new things to my wardrobe in the fall. My wishlist is always long so I try to clean out my closet beforehand to see what I really need. The graphic tee and sweatshirt trend is still going strong into fall and there are so many cute options to choose from at affordable price points. Track pants were another trend that I kept seeing on other fashion bloggers. I wear jeans almost every day and thought these would be a nice change and something that I could dress up or down. The striped tee was unique with with the mixed textures and was something that would span all seasons. Finally, a fall sweater is always in order and the dark floral prints are a nice change from the brights this summer.

August Purchases
J'Adore Tee /Halogen Floral Print Sweater (sold out) / Holy Chic Tee /
Skies Are Blue Mixed Media Tee / Oui Mon Cheri Sweatshirt (sold out)/ Bobeau Track Pants (sold out)

3 Ways to Wear Track Pants

Track pants were something that I was unsure of at first. I was finally out of my yoga pant habit and I didn't want to look like I was wearing pajama's. But once I got a pair, I realized what a versatile piece they were, and who doesn't want to look stylish and be comfy at the same time? Here's how I styled my track pants for the fall season.

Look #1 Girls Night Out
When you are wearing a tee with track pants, dress it up by adding a statement necklace. Doing a half tuck with this loose fitting tee took some of the bulkiness away. I added wedge booties to complete the look.

Oktoberfest Birthday Party

My husband's birthday is December 23rd and since I've known him, he has said he was always jipped as a child because his birthday was so close to Christmas.  Even as adults, it has been impossible to plan anything during the holidays let alone two days before Christmas. He is turning the big 50 this year and our daughter and I thought, why not have a party early and make it a surprise. Let me say that planning a surprise party for an adult is not easy, let alone having a party at your house when you can't decorate or do any prep work in advance. But guys, we pulled it off!

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday Everyone! Today I'm sharing some of my favorite things from the past week!

Every year our daughter participates in a mile run to support a local organization that provides to families in need to cover the costs of sports and community activities for their kids. Despite the winter like weather, she ran it in 6:26 and came in second for girls!

Transition Your Favorite Summer Dress to Fall

I love fall, but one of the things that I will miss about the warm weather is how easy it is to wear a summer dress! You add a great pair of shoes and your ready to go. Although it's getting colder out, you don't have to pack away your summer dresses just yet. With a few styling tricks you can transition your summer favorites into fall.

One of the easiest ways to wear your summer dress in the fall is to pair it with a form fitting sweater. I styled my eShakti Hula Girl sundress (last seen here) with a navy sweater, statement necklace and booties.

Chicago Bears Gameday Look

Sundays are all about football with family and friends. While our family is divided between the Bears and the Packers, in this house, we are Bears fans! Whether hanging out watching the game at home or heading out to a tailgate, I want to represent my team, but still look stylish.

I've been wearing my Urlacher jersey for a few years and with him now retired, it was time for me to update my gameday look. Fanatic's has an amazing selection of NFL jerseys, and after browsing their Chicago Bears selection, I decided on this Alshon Jeffery jersey. Alshon is a wide receiver and was drafted by the Bears in 2012. He's a dynamic player and is credited with having the most receiving yards in Chicago Bears' franchise history.

Chicago Bears Gameday Look

To create a fun and stylish gameday look, I paired the jersey with a basic tank top, leatherette leggings and moto boots. I kept the jewelry simple with a blue and orange statement necklace and orange chain bracelet. No one wants to worry about their hair in the Windy City so a vintage Bears cap does the trick. The orange crossbody bag is the perfect finishing touch to keep your hands free.

Do you need a new jersey for your gameday look? Head over to Fanatics to find your favorite!

My Favorite Things About Fall

Happy Friday Everyone! I'm joining the Lifestyle Sistas today to share my favorite things about fall. Besides everything pumpkin...lattes, candles and bread...these are the top five things that I look forward to.

Fall TV!

We never watch TV live and record almost everything on the DVR. There is nothing better than lounging on a Saturday morning with a cup of tea and catching up on shows.

Swim Meets!

October Pin-Spired

Hello Everyone! It's the first of the month and it's time for another round of Pin-spired looks! Linking up today with Pinterest Told Me ToMix and Match Family & The Larson Lingo. Pinterest is always a great source to spark creativity when I'm not sure how to style an outfit. If you are new to using Pinterest, keep in mind that you don't have to match an outfit exactly. Use it to get ideas to style what you already have. Fall trends call for darker shades and richer colors like burgundy, mustard, blues and grays. I'm styling all of my looks today around my colored denim and corduroy's.

Pin-Spiration #1
Pink skinny jeans, white tee, beige jacket, neutral sandals

My Recreation

Sweater (option) / Tee (option) / Jeans (option) /Stella & Dot Rebel Pendant /Return to Tiffany Bracelet / Steve Madden Sincere Sandal

Pink denim, check...white tee, check...neutral sandals...check! I don't wear blazers often so I swapped that for a beige sweater. This was the perfect outfit to wear on a warmer fall day.
