Popular Makeup Trends Around the World

The importance of beauty in the modern society is constantly setting new standards in beauty and skincare industry, and quite possibly pushing the boundaries of what was once thought conventional or agreeable. New makeup trends are springing up across the globe every week, and the methods and products women use to achieve unique looks and stunning visual impressions keep multiplying at an unabated speed. So, what’s the latest vogue? Keep reading if you want to get a quick insight into the latest beauty fads and makeup trends in different countries worldwide.

The US: Home of beauty, style and glamour
Recognized as the cradle of innovative makeup techniques, new fashion fads and go-to beauty-oriented products, the US is one of the top trend-setters in the skincare and maquillage domain. The latest makeup fads in America include eyes accentuated by rich, fashion-forward eyeliners with upturned edges (sometimes applied both to the bottom and top lid for added emphasis), smokey eye visual effects, bold-colored lipsticks, daring eye shadow tones, BB creams, dark wide eyebrow shapes and false lashes.

Asia: Cradle of premium skincare
The birthplace of superior skincare and makeup products based on all natural formulas and combinations of rare ingredients, Asia is probably one of the biggest beauty accessory markets in the world. Some of the newest beauty and makeup trends popular in the Eastern hemisphere include rich eye shadows and lipsticks in burgundy tones, neutral, matte and leather-colored nail polish (frequently textured for an added visual twist), no-makeup look and BB creams. In Japan, you’ll often see girls sporting the doll face look (characterized by rosy blush applied high under the eyes), while Korea is known for its meticulous beauty regimens (does the 10-step skincare regimen ring a bell?).

Europe: The golden beauty standard
London, Paris and Milan fashion and beauty vogues – you name it, Europe has them all. Well-known for quality cosmetics and beauty products produced using advances technologies and formulations, European skincare and makeup industry is seeing a major renaissance with the latest trends such as smokey eyes, daring and glittery eye shadow tones in neon, eggplant, purple and brown tones with over-extended lines, full bold brows, thin eyeliner lines and dramatic false lashes on both the upper and the lower lid for added accentuation (try the synthetic-fiber 3D fake lash extensions popular in Russia for size and volume). On the other hand, the trend of natural no-makeup or slightly tanned look with sometimes even minimal eye and brow makeup is also spreading fast, so you can take your pick – both the bold and the natural looks are in here.

South Africa: Fun and fancy beauty trends
For an incredible, larger-than-life looks, try South Africa. A hotpot of latest beauty trends and makeup fads, South Africa is currently crazy about eye shadows and lipsticks in bright tones and textures (such as neon pink and pearl), bold eyeliners in a wide variety of warm hues, both thin and bold brows depending on makeup style, facial highlights and contouring (Illuminating powders are in this season), BB creams and well-moisturized skin for a natural, healthy glow.

Australia: Tried and tested cosmetic vogues
Though often regarded as the ‘land down under’, Australia takes a prominent place in the skincare and makeup world. Some of the latest beauty and makeup fads among Aussies includes cosmetic tattooing. Cosmetic tattooing is a micropigmentation technique which employs tattoos as a means of producing designs that resemble makeup, such as eyelining and other permanent colors to the skin of the face, lips, and eyelids.

What is also popular in the Oz is accentuating the eyes with lid tightlining, glossy or matte lipsticks, minimal bronzing, as well as nude, neutral and all-natural visuals.

Though the concept of beauty is pretty much universal, women in different countries are constantly redefining the notion of a polished, well put-together ladylike look. From the no-makeup trends to daring contours and dramatic eyes, room for individual beauty interpretations and hip looks springs eternal – so, which continent does your favorite makeup style come from?
