Favorite Quick & Tasty Appetizers

I don't know about you, but I was exhausted on Monday morning after staying up to watch the Oscars. My girlfriends and I get together to watch them every year but with busy weekends, it's sometimes hard to find the time to whip up a tasty appetizer. Today I'm sharing my top 3 favorite appetizers you can whip up in a time crunch!

Hummus Cups

What You'll Need:
Pillsbury Crescent Roll Dough
Hummus (my favorite is the Trader Joe's brand)
Cucumber (chopped)
Grape Tomatoes (chopped)
Mini-muffin pan

Directions:
Break the dough into smaller pieces and press into a muffin pan. Bake until golden brown. The dough will rise so press it down with a spoon while it's still warm. Scoop a spoonful of hummus and top with the cucumber and tomato. Done!

Blushing

Welcome to Thursday Fashion Files Week 2!

Welcome to our second week of Thursday Fashion Files with Jill at Doused in Pink and Carrie at Curly Crafty Mom! We are excited to have you here and would love to have you link up one of your latest outfits with us.

We are always looking for Co-Hosts for Thursday Fashion Files. If you haven't signed up to Co-Host, but are interested, sign up by clicking HERE.

I try to stay organized, plan ahead and take my outfit photos when it's on the warmer side (for winter anyway), but since Mother Nature was not cooperating, I braved the 5 degree weather and took these photos last weekend. Neither the Hubs or my daughter were jumping up and down at the opportunity to take my photos so it was me, and my tripod. Luckily, I was able to get a few good shots and run back inside to warmth!

Blush pink gives a girly vibe but also makes a statement and is going to be a big trend this spring. These blush pink jeans have been a closet staple but I realized I had not worn them since fall. A blush and beige color block sweater, my favorite fringe scarf, and booties created a soft, muted look that will transition right into Spring!

Blogversary & Giveaway!

I can't believe it's been a year already since I started this blogging adventure! Doused In Pink was created on a whim. One afternoon as I was reading a few blogs, my daughter suggested I start one of my own. My response was, seriously, I can't do that! A few weeks later, she suggested it again, and I thought, why not? And an hour later, I had a blog!

I needed a creative outlet and this blog would not only be a fun hobby, but also make me accountable to wearing the clothes hanging in my closet; getting out of my yoga pant rut. My goal with this blog was to remix my closet and share my outfits, DIY projects and recipes. I wanted other women to know that you can look fabulous no matter what your budget and inspire others to create new outfits by stepping out of their fashion comfort zone.

Blogging has been so rewarding and while I started out clueless, I've learned a lot! I'm very proud of all that I've achieved so far. But what is most important to me, is you, my readers! Thank you so much for your support and comments! And to my new blogging friends, thank you for your encouragement!

To celebrate Doused In Pink's blogversary and to thank my readers, I'm giving away a new Stella and Dot Eye Candy Necklace in Hot Pink and a Stella and Dot Capri Pouch in Hot Pink Poppy! Enter through the Rafflecopter below. Giveaway is open to US residents only and will be open for one week. Winner will be announced on March 5th. Good luck!

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday everyone! I'm ready for a busy weekend of swimming time trials and a girls night to watch the Oscars. Here are some of my favorite things from the past week!

We celebrated our daughter's birthday with family last weekend. One of my sister-in-law's hobbies is making cakes. I think she should open a cake shop but the hobby she loves more than cakes is writing. She has published one young adult novel (you can read my review here) and has the sequel coming out this spring.

Camo Pants 3 Ways

The camouflage print will continue to be a hit this spring. You'll see it on pants, tops and jackets. I consider my camouflage pants a neutral and the more I wear them, the more I see how versatile they are. They go with virtually everything and add a fun element to your outfit. If you are still hesitant to embrace this trend or just need some style inspiration, today I'm showing you three ways to wear your camo pants.

Everyday Street Style

If you have been visiting for awhile, you know I love to pattern mix. Adding a striped tee is an easy way to experiment with mixing prints. A statement necklace breaks up the patterns and a pair of neutral booties ties it all up. I work from home so this was a regular workday outfit that took me to running errands and a board meeting for the swim club after work hours.

Reading Roundup!

Happy Friday! I have been making it a priority to make time to relax and read a few days a week and I'm pleased to report that I'm keeping up with my goal of reading one book a month! Here's what I've been reading and how I reviewed them on Goodreads.

The Vacationers, follows the upper, middle class Post family, on their two week vacation to Mallorca, Spain. Fanny and Jim recently celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary and their daughter Syliva, will be leaving for college in the fall. The vacation is supposed to be a celebration but just before they leave, Fanny finds out that Jim was fired from his job of 30 years for having an affair with an intern. Sylvia is dealing with humiliation from her actions at a party. Fanny and Jim’s son Bobby and his girlfriend, Carmen, join along with Fanny’s lifelong friend Charles and his husband Lawrence. Bobby and Carmen’s long term relationship is going nowhere and Charles and Lawrence are on the short-list to adopt a baby. While Lawrence is ecstatic, Charles is still not sure if this is what he really wants. Straub does a good job developing the characters but none of them are very likable. Vacations are for enjoying togetherness of family time but instead the Posts deal what many families do when they suddenly are in close quarters with one another; get on each other’s nerves. Each of the characters deal with various awkward situations and tense moments but there were touching and funny moments too, drawing some of them together and others apart. It’s a fast and light read, but I would have liked to see the characters deal more with their misgivings instead of wrapping it up neatly with a happy ending.

Black, White and Kushyfoot Review

Kushyfoot is known for their massaging leg wear, and their mission is to make you feel good while looking great. Designed by reflexology experts, Kushyfoot hosiery, socks and Flats to Go incorporate a massaging cushion that helps to relieve achy feet, which in turn, helps relieve stress and fatigue on your entire body. They are affordably priced, comfortable and easy to wear. Kushyfoot was kind enough to send me a pair of their fleece lined tights, trouser socks and their popular Flats to Go and with a week of dressing up for work and long meetings, I could not wait to try them!

I dread wearing dresses when the temperatures are subzero, so these fleece lined tights could not have come at a better time!  They are soft and comfortable and hug you in all the right places without being constricting. I didn't want to take them off at the end of the day!

The Flats to Go are lightweight and fold up nicely to throw in your bag. They were perfect when I wanted a break from my boots and heels. They would also be a lifesaver when traveling. These could easily get you through the airport security and give your feet a break during a long flight. They come in black, animal, snake and alligator prints!

Normally, I don’t like wearing trouser socks, but Kushyfoot’s didn't constrict or leave an indentation on the top of my calf. Just like the tights, they had a massaging sole that was really comfortable! Better yet, they are a cute fishnet pattern! Go check out Kushyfoot! Your feet will definitely thank you!
