Cozy Holiday Home Tour 2015

Welcome to my holiday home tour! Decorating our home for the holidays was definitely a challenge this year. We moved last spring to be in a different school district and are currently renting our home. I’ve been working hard on making it comfortable, but with not being able to make any major changes, it’s been slow progress. I have always decorated for Christmas the weekend of Thanksgiving, but this year I spent a lot of time taking decorations out of bins and then putting them right back because I wasn’t sure what to do with them. I had to be resourceful with figuring out how to decorate a fireplace without a mantel, how to display decorations without a wall of built-ins, and how to decorate a staircase with no banister or loft landing area. But, I accepted the challenge and hope you enjoy my cozy holiday home tour!

Let’s start in our family room…

Here’s an easy way to display your holiday cards…create a flipbook. Punch a hole in the corner of each card, place them in a binder ring, add a ribbon. I keep a few of the past years out in this candy stripe bin. It’s fun to look back over the years!

One of my favorite things about this home is having a dining room! Here’s a shot during the day…

And at night…

Our kitchen is tiny, so all it called for was some garland and a wreath on the window. I have a bottle light in the corner and some ornaments and pine cones on the kitchen scale.

Santa pillows on the breakfast nook bench.

I picked up this table at a resale shop when we moved in with the intent to sand and repaint it over the summer. It’s still a robin egg blue and on the list of jobs to tackle as soon as spring arrives. I’ve added some goodies to the wire basket to make it into a hot chocolate station.

I always felt like this wall closed up the space, but I’m glad to have it for displaying some of my snowmen!

My solution to a mantel-less fireplace was to hang lighted garland at the top.

In addition to snowmen, I also collect angels.

This is the tiny tree that was in my office last year. I wanted a tree in every room with a bigger house, but need to wait for the after Christmas sales.
