Elbow Patch Trend | Cute Embroidered Tee

I don’t know what it is lately, but I’m drawn to the elbow patch trend. Elbow patches go way back to the WWI era, where they were sewn on soldier’s sweaters to help reinforce them. Then in the 1920’s when college kids used them to prolong the life of their jackets. In the 1950s, elbow patches were popular in women’s sewing patterns coordinating with belts and headbands, onto the 1970s where they were seen on tweed jackets and today where they are on just about everything.

Patterned, suede, sequins, and more, elbow patches add unique detail and some fun to an otherwise plain top. My elbow patch jacket has been a go-to layering piece, and now I’ve found this grey long sleeve top with embroidered cats on the elbow, also from Romwe! The adorable cats on the elbow are a unique detail to this top and a fun way to wear the trend.
