Clean Beauty Favorites

Keeping with the theme staying healthy from yesterdays post, I wanted to share my five favorite clean beauty products. We’ve always been told to make healthy choices with the food we put into our bodies, exercise regularly and to get 7 – 8 hours of sleep a night to maintain a healthy lifestyle. After being diagnosed with breast cancer 2015, I realized that wasn’t enough.

Did you know that the personal care industry is highly unregulated and 80% of the chemicals in personal care products have never been tested for safety? Companies can tout that their products are  “organic”, “green” or “natural” and still be filled with toxic chemicals that are harmful and could have long term health impacts.

The clean beauty movement is in full swing and there are more options than ever before for skincare and makeup with clean, non-toxic ingredients. For most of us, it’s impossible to swap out all of our personal care products at once. Not only is it a huge dent in your pocketbook, it may take some trial and error to find the perfect swap of your favorite cleanser or foundation. Where to start? The most important swaps are for those products that stay on your skin the longest. For me, I started with a clean deodorant, cleanser, moisturizer and nail polish.

Here are five of my favorite products that are safe, non-toxic and have delivered maximum results for me:

Beautycounter Cleansing Balm I cannot say enough great things about this multi-purpose balm. It’s a cleanser, makeup remover and overnight mask in one. I usually don’t think of cleansers as hydrating but this one leaves your skin silky soft.

Zoya Nail Polish is know for its 10 free long wearing formula. Zoya offers an annual earth day exchange where you can get 6 polishes at 50% off! Send back your unwanted polish and they will dispose of it according to environmental guidelines.

Ursa Major Golden Hour Recovery Cream is a rich anti-aging cream that has a luxe feel and immediately soaks into your skin.

Pai Rosehip BioRegenerate Oil. This gives your skin a nice healthy glow. I mix a few drops of the Pai oil with my moisturizer to boost it’s effectiveness.

Kopari Natural Coconut Deodorant is aluminum free, goes on light and the coconut milk scent smells great.
