Home Pedicure Essentials

It’s easy to ignore your feet when you wear boots all winter. Now that the warm weather will be around for awhile, it’s time to get your feet summer sandal ready! As much as I love going to the salon for a pedicure, it’s pretty rare and is usually for a special treat to myself or girls day. I’ve always given myself pedicures at home. For me, painting my nails is therapeutic, kind of like coloring! In the winter months, I give myself monthly pedicures and in the summer, it’s my Sunday ritual almost every week. It’s easy to take care of your feet at home. Read on for my home pedicure essentials!

Step 1: Remove dry and callused skin. I recently received the Emjoi Micro-Pedi to review. It’s easy to use and takes the chore out of keeping your feet smooth. It gently buffs away rough, dry and callused skin in seconds and is a safer alternative to metal foot buffers. In order for it to work it’s magic, use it on dry skin and before applying any lotions. The Emjoi Micro-Pedi is available at beauty retailers, drug stores, QVC and on their website here.

Step 2. Clip your nails. Then using a nail file, shape and smooth them out.

Step 3. Apply cuticle remover to the base of each nail. Let sit for a few minutes, then push them back. This cuticle remover is one of my favorites and this tool was a game changer for me.

Step 4. Polish your toes. Apply a base coat, two layers of your polish color and finish with a top coat. Allow each coat to completely dry before applying the next.

Step 5. Moisturize. To keep your feet soft, I like to apply O’Keefe’s Healthy Feet nightly and slip on some spa socks before going to bed.
