Fireworks and the 4th of July go hand in hand, but did you know that was the intention when the Declaration of Independence was signed? John Adams had written to his wife on July 3, 1776, that the occasion should be celebrated with illuminations from that time forward. In 1777, one year after the signing of the Declaration of Independence, there was a celebration in Philadelphia that ended with fireworks being set off. Boston and New York followed and the tradition grew from there.
I usually spend the 4th hanging out with family and friends and then catching the fireworks. I want to keep my outfit simple but still look festive. I picked up this cute knit pencil skirt at a Lue La Roe popup boutique a while back and thought it would be perfect for the occasion.
