Summer Basics that Will Never Go Out of Style
Did you have a good weekend? Ours was so much fun! I think the highlight was going out to a restaurant for the first time since being quarantined and dining out on the patio with friends. It was a perfect evening temperature-wise with a gentle breeze coming off Lake Michigan. It was so strange at first, being out, I was kinda in awe of everything around me!
Anyway, a few weeks ago, I shared 5 Summer Accessories You Need in Your Closet, and today I’m back with some of my summer closet essentials. Trends are always changing, but it’s easy to incorporate them into your wardrobe if you have classic and timeless go-to pieces. These summer basics are closet essentials that will stick around year after year and never look dated. And, they’ll help you pull those outfits together when you want to incorporate the latest seasonal trend!
White Tee
Everyone needs a good white tee! They’re a piece you can wear with anything and dress up with a scarf or statement necklace. I’m a huge fan of Loft tees, and this one has ruching on the arms that adds interest.
White Jeans
If you don’t want to give up wearing jeans but want a fresh look, swap out the dark denim for a white pair. Side note, I probably wear my white jeans more in the fall and winter months. Check out 8 Ways to Wear White Jeans Year Round.
Denim Shorts
Denim shorts are a summer staple I cannot live without. They basically go with any type of top and are easy to style. Mid-length and Bermuda shorts are universally flattering and give you that breezy summer vibe.
Maxi Dress
Throw on a maxi dress, and you always have a chic look. Maxi dresses are versatile and look good on everyone. Dress them up with a blazer for work or dress them down with a baseball cap and slides.
Denim Jacket
A denim jacket is a timeless layering piece that you can wear season after season. You’ll find denim jackets in all washes, but I think a medium wash is most versatile.
White Sneakers
A pair of fresh white sneakers are not only a comfortable shoe alternative, but they also look great with virtually everything from shorts and jeans to skirts and dresses!
Tee-Shirt Dress
You can’t beat one and done dressing with a tee-shirt dress. A tee-shirt dress is effortless and so easy to dress up or down. Adding layers, like a white or chambray button-down, completely changes up the look and makes it easy to transition into fall.
Neutral Sandals
A pair of neutral sandals are a summer must-have and will never go out of style. My favorite pair are espadrille wedges. They’re not only comfortable to walk in, but they elongate your legs. I’ve had this pair for years, and they keep coming back season after season.
