Elevated Spring Basics That Don’t Feel Basic

If youโ€™ve ever opened your closet and thought, โ€œI want something easy but polished,โ€ these elevated spring basics are for you.

Iโ€™m all about pieces that feel effortless but still give your outfit that pulled-together look, and I found two sets that check every box. Both are from Gibsonlook, a brand Iโ€™ve worn for years because they consistently deliver on quality, comfort, and style.

Letโ€™s start with the first look: the Playa Bell Sleeve Button Blouse and Playa High Waisted Belted Short. I love a matching set for how easy it makes getting dressed. The shorts have a sash belt and pleats that give them just the right amount of polish. I paired mine with sneakers, a belt bag, and simple gold jewelry for a relaxed weekend look. Itโ€™s a modern take on a classic warm-weather outfit, but you could easily dress it up with heeled sandals and a woven clutch. Or, wear the top with a black skirt or neutral pants and the shorts with a neutral top or lightweight sweater.

The second outfit is the Holiday Twist Neck Halter and Isla Smocked Waist Day Skirt. I wore this set with wedge sandals and a matching green bag. The halter-style neckline is flattering and has a tailored feel. If you’re not into the ruffled skirt, you can wear the halter with white jeans, a denim skirt, or a flowy maxi skirt. What I love about the skirt is the smocked waist; itโ€™s incredibly comfortable. It would look cute with a white tee and sneakers, too. These are the kinds of pieces you reach for when you want to look like you tried, without actually trying too hard.

These outfits strike the balance between dressed-up and easygoing, and for me, thatโ€™s the sweet spot. Thatโ€™s what I mean when I talk about elevated spring basics – pieces that look chic, feel comfortable, and mix easily with what you already own.
