Life Lately [July ’25]

July felt like one long game of catch-up. Every time I crossed one thing off the list, three more popped up. It was busy, but with many fun moments mixed in. Hereโ€™s my life lately in July.

What I’ve Been Up To

My sister and her husband were in town the week leading into the 4th, and we kicked off the long weekend with happy hour and charcuterie on our deck.

The 4th was a beach day, and we picnicked and paddle boarded on Lake Michigan with our friends. Later that evening, we attended their community’s fireworks display.

A few friends got together to see the musical,ย AlwaysSomething There.ย It’s about a woman who wakes up on the morning of her 45th birthday in her 18-year-old life. She has a golden opportunity to relive her senior year of high school in suburban Chicago, 1989. Armed with the wisdom of her adult self, she can reshape her teenage choices. The soundtrack was filled with all of your favorite ’80s hits, and it was such a fun show.

We were back at our favorite outdoor concert venue for the Beck concert. It was roughly the temperature of the sun that evening. We had our usual picnic setup and did our best to pretend it wasnโ€™t miserable. The show, though, was something else. Beck’s performance with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra was worth every sweaty minute.

We finally tackled the landscaped area behind our garage. It had been on our to-do list since we moved in four years ago. I didn’t take a before photo, but it was overgrown, and generally it was just not visually appealing.

After weeding, digging out old tree roots, and removing a large number of rocks and broken paver pieces, we laid down landscaping fabric to suppress weed growth. Then, edged, sodded, and mulched.

Products I Tried

ThirdLove sent me two of their breathable cooling bras to try, and they showed up at the perfect time. Weโ€™ve had nothing but high 90s lately and Iโ€™ve been wearing them on repeat. They do live up to the name. Lightweight, supportive, and comfortable even when itโ€™s hot and sticky out. If youโ€™ve been looking for a bra that doesnโ€™t make you want to rip it off by 2 p.m., this might be the one. Check them out here.

Colleen Rothschildโ€™s Christmas in July sale is a great opportunity if youโ€™ve had your eye on something; nowโ€™s the time to grab it. A few of my everyday favorites are included: the Sheer Renewal Cream (lightweight but still hydrating), the Illuminating Tinted Eye Cream (brightens without being heavy), and the Radiant Cleansing Balm, which feels like a mini facial at the end of the day. I always try to stock up during this sale. Check it out here.

I’ve shared Melinda Maria jewelry in the past, and I’m loving the new necklace I just got in. This is the She’s an Icon Blue Opal Moon necklace, and I get compliments every time I wear it. It’s a great piece to add a pretty detail to your white tops. Use code DOUSEDINPINK for 10% off. Shop here.
