How to Style a Long Cardigan Without the Frump

how to style a long cardigan

Last week, in this post, I mentioned that burgundy and black are some of my favorite color combinations this season. Burgundy is such a vibrant color and is easy to work into your outfits with shoes and accessories. It also goes so well paired with neutrals. I thought why not feature another look, but this time add some grey into the mix. Longline cardigans are a winter essential and perfect for building those cozy layers. Today I wanted to share a simple outfit formula for how to style a long cardigan.

How to Style a Long Cardigan: Styling Tips

To create an effortless look without the frump, don’t wear a thick or bulky top. Start with something lightweight for the bottom layer, like a tailored shirt fitted tee. For today’s look, I’m wearing a black tee. Then add a scarf or statement necklace for your completer piece. Finally, I brought in the burgundy with my shoes for a pop of color. Another cute option to try is to belt your cardigan over a fitted or tissue turtleneck top and skinny jeans or wearing it belted as a dress with tall boots.
