Two Ways to Wear Bold Pants | Graceful Rags

Hello! My name is Grace, and I’m SO excited to be guest posting for Jill today as she takes her daughter back to college. I run the fashion blog gracefulrags.com (Instagram: @graceful_rags), where I talk about all things affordable fashion and occasionally dabble in a college or lifestyle post. I’m passionate about reworking the pieces in our closets in new ways in order to make the most of our clothes and save money. Oh, and did I mention I have a *slight* obsession with cost per wear?!

But that’s enough about me, let’s get to today’s post—and these fabulous pants. Since Jill recently shared “How to Transition Your Summer Dresses to Fall”, I wanted to do a similar post showcasing how to restyle your favorite palazzo or other summer pants into autumn. I bought these pants on sale for $15 from Francesca’s last year, and they sat in my closet for ages because they were too big in the waist… (the woes of having hips, am I right?). But thankfully, my aunt saved the day, teaching me how to sew this summer and helping me tailor these fun pants. Now they fit like a glove! (Although, as I was eating dinner, I realized they might fit *too* well.)

In the summer, I paired these pants with a turquoise mock-neck top to match the print. My salmon clutch also matched the pattern very well, and I finished the look with a belt and white sandal heels. The printed belt was only to keep my pants up—these photos were taken pre-tailoring—and the white shoes are by far the comfiest heels I own. You can buy them in brown or black here, as I highly recommend them.

While I wore this look earlier in the summer, I would still wear it now, as the temps haven’t dropped yet where I live. It would make such a cute date/dinner outfit, and I would even wear it to one of my classes. I’m a junior in college studying Criminology, and no, I never wear sweatpants to class!

My dad took one look at these pants and declared, “Those are the coolest pants I’ve ever seen!” And I can’t say I disagree. I was apprehensive about them when I saw them online, but I’m so glad I decided to purchase them. The bold pattern, flirty slits at the hem, and 70s vibes make these pants such a fun summer/fall piece.

For the fall outfit, I paired these pants with olive green and black. This military style jacket is one of my fall staples (I’ve had it for 6+ years) and makes for the perfect layer as the temps start to cool. I added my go-to black clutch—with the cutest elephant embellishment—and kept my jewelry dainty. But how cool are these hair rings?! They’re old from Icing and make for a fun boho accessory for summer and fall. (You can buy similar ones here.)

How will you be transitioning your palazzo pants to fall? These pants would also look great with a white tee, a salmon-colored top, a white crop top, or a black long-sleeve bodysuit. I even think they could work with a beige sweater and booties for a true fall outfit. But until it gets chilly enough, this tank and jacket combo are the perfect transitional look.
