I love a good maxi skirt, and they continue to be my go-to. They’re the perfect working-from-home piece that’s comfortable but still stylish if you have to run out for lunch or an errand. Maxi skirts and dresses are one of the most versatile pieces in my closet. See how I’ve styled a summer maxi dress three ways here, dressed up for a wedding here, and down for a fun casual look here! Today I’m a casual maxi skirt outfit.
How to Style A Maxi Skirt Casually
I picked up this darling bird print maxi skirt at a Lu La Roe pop-up boutique a few months ago. Lu La Roe is known for its cozy knits and unique patterns, and I was instantly drawn to this blush skirt adorned with lavender birds! This maxi skirt is so fun and easy to style!
I grabbed a slightly oversized tee and knotted it to define my waist. A denim vest is just as versatile as the denim jacket we all have in our closets. It’s the perfect light layer for summer and adds a little edge to the outfit. There are lots of footwear options to wear with a long skirt. For this look, I choose a pair of strappy slides. Espadrille wedges and sneakers would also work.
More Ways to Wear a Long Skirt
Depending on your height and the length of your skirt, you can wear it as a dress by pulling the waistband above your chest. In order to give it shape, add a belt or throw on a button-up shirt and tie it at the waist. If you shy away from strapless dresses, complete the look with a blazer or denim jacket. For a dressier look, I can see wearing this patterned maxi skirt with a pretty blouse and adding a statement belt.
