Spring Jacket Guide

Spring is such a hard season to dress for, especially in the Midwest. You never know if it’s going to be a sunny 70-degree day or snowing! Today I wanted to share five of the best spring jackets you’ll want in your wardrobe. Adding an extra layer as a completer piece not only saves you when the weather changes its mind, it instantly elevates your outfit too!

Whether a denim jacket or a trench coat, a spring jacket gives your everyday outfit a renewed look! And mixing and matching your layering pieces will keep your wardrobe fresh. Here are five of my favorite spring jackets that I reach for year after year and that will work with what you are currently wearing.

5 Spring Jackets That Work No Matter What You’re Wearing

1 – Denim Jacket

Denim jackets are an easy layering piece and a classic and will never go out of style. Pair them with everything from jeans, trousers, dresses, and jumpsuits. And, if you want to take it off, it’s not too bulky to easily tie around your waist. If you’re wearing a denim jacket with jeans, I recommend making sure the denim washes are slightly different.

2 – Statement Trench Coat

A tan trench coat has always been considered an absolute wardrobe staple. They’re classic, practical, and easy to transition to colder weather by adding layers underneath. Give your coat closet an update with a bold color or pattern.

3 – Utility Jacket

A utility jacket is the one jacket I really can’t live without and really is one of the best spring jackets to layer. Just like a denim jacket, it isn’t too dressy or too casual, it’s just right. There are different styles and colors to choose from, with the most popular being a cotton drawstring jacket in olive green. If you’re not a fan of green, go for another neutral tan, navy, or black. They easily elevate a casual look and are perfect for dressing down tailored pants, skirts, and dresses.

4 – Sweater Blazer

A sweater blazer is just what it sounds like, a more structured open-front sweater. They’re more comfortable and easier to wear than a blazer because they take away the fuss. Yet, still, give you that polished look while keeping you cozy. For the office, they coordinate perfectly with pants and a blouse or a dress. And, look equally as great with jeans or denim shorts.

5 – Lightweight Moto Jacket

A moto jacket is another timeless staple that gives the perfect finishing touch to any outfit. Layer them over jeans and a graphic tee or leggings and a button-up shirt. Don’t forget about dresser outfits too. They instantly balance out your feminine pieces and give them a little edge.
