How to Prep Your Skin for Dry Fall Months Ahead

As fall approaches, you will need to prepare your skin for the colder weather. Even as the weather changes, you should still use moisturizer and exfoliation products. This way, you will keep your skin healthy and still retain your summer tan. Exfoliating your skin may not sound like it makes sense to maintain your bronzed skin, but trust me, it is! Cooler temperatures really can change your skin so it is important to adjust accordingly.

Change out your serums for added moisture

It’s no secret that cooler temperatures suck out the moisture from your skin, leaving it to be dry and flaky and extremely frustrating especially when wanting to put foundation on. To add the perfect amount of moisture, you should begin by changing out your serum. Aim for a more natural serum, like products from the Blue Lagoon skincare line for example. If you follow the BL+ story, you will realize that this serum can prevent premature ageing and promote a healthy complexion. It will also protect your skin from environmental elements, great for you city dwellers!

Exfoliate at least once per week

When preparing for the dry fall months, you should also exfoliate at least once a week. This procedure helps to keep the skin soft and smooth as it removes dead skin. You should note that skin cells are shed regularly, and failing to exfoliate can lead to the formation of dull and flaky patches. With a lot of dead skin, your skin will have a harder time absorbing the hydrating moisturizers you apply. Although exfoliation is important, you should avoid doing it more than twice a week. This is because you might end up stripping away the natural oils of the face.

Don’t stop wearing sunscreen

Sunscreen protects the skin from harmful UV rays, and this means your chances of getting sunburns will be much lower. Failing to use sunscreen can lead to the development of wrinkled, dry, and discolored skin. In severe heat, your skin can even end up looking leathery. Even as the weather gets cooler, you should keep wearing sunscreen to make your skin stays healthy. Apart from keeping your skin moisturized, sunscreen helps to prevent skin cancer. This is because your skin will not be hit directly by UV rays.

Add vitamin C

As fall approaches, you should consume more vitamin C. This will promote the production of collagen, and this has the potential to thicken the dermis. As such, your skin will be able to stay firm and youthful. It is also worth noting that vitamin C works as an antioxidant, and this means it can protect the skin cells from harmful free radicals.

The transition from summer to fall can be fun, but you will need to follow the tips listed above to keep your skin healthy. In the dry season, you should remember to always moisturize your skin and exfoliate at least once a week. You should also keep wearing sunscreen and take more vitamin C.
