Some days I don’t feel like exerting the effort to put together an outfit. Does anyone else feel that way? That’s why wardrobe basics are so essential. Creating a basic everyday outfit doesn’t require a big production. Having a few go-to outfits to reach for when you’re stumped with what to wear can make a huge difference in how you feel when you walk out the door.
Two of my go-to pieces are jeans and a tee shirt. You can wear these foundation pieces multiple ways, and it’s easy to add a few simple details that will turn a basic everyday outfit into an effortlessly chic look. Here are simple ways to elevate your basic everyday outfit so it doesn’t look basic.
How to Elevate Your Basics
Wear Great Shoes
Swap out your sneakers for a low-heeled bootie. They will lengthen your leg line and give your outfit that extra oomph.
Don’t Forget a Completer Piece
Throwing on a shacket, blazer, or cardigan will change the outfit silhouette and create a whole new look.
Accessorize with a Belt
Adding a belt will elevate your basics and add texture, polish, or even a pop of color to whatever you are wearing.
Layer Your Necklaces
Any tee shirt will look dressier when you layer a few necklaces, and they will add a focal point to your look.
Add a Hat
Hats are not only good for a bad hair day. They shape and frame your face and give your outfit an extra punch, so it stands out.
Stand Out with a Statement Bag
A statement bag doesn’t necessarily mean an expensive bag with bling. Choose something with fun or with unique details to add interest.
