My love for blazers started in middle school when I had a three-piece mauve set consisting of bell bottoms, a vest, and a blazer. I think I wore that blazer so much that it finally fell apart. Does anyone else remember those days? And then, in the early ’90s, when blazers were formal and strictly reserved for the office? Fast forward to today, where everyone is rocking casual outfits with blazers. They’re more versatile than ever and can dress up any outfit, whether it be for work or play.
A blazer is one of those items that can look very formal or very casual. It all depends on how you wear it. I reach for them more often than a cardigan because the style possibilities are endless. Not only are blazers a great layering piece for all seasons, but they instantly add polish to your outfit. Dress them up by wearing them over a dress or down over a tee and jeans for a relaxed look.
There are tons of blazer options, from double-breasted, belted, traditional tweed or plaid, menswear-inspired, to cropped. With all the different colors, patterns, and styles available, you’re sure to find one that fits your style. And all you need is one to create multiple casual outfits with blazers with items you already have in your closet. I picked up my olive blazer at Gibsonlook and loved the notch collar and soft, stretchy knit. It’s a great fall transition staple, so today, I wanted to share how to style a blazer casually with five everyday fall transition outfits.
What to Wear with an Olive Blazer
Blazer + Straight Jeans
If you’re unsure what to wear with a blazer, go with a classic look and try pairing it with dark wash jeans. It’s an easy way to give your outfit a polished yet laid-back vibe, and you’ll feel confident no matter where you go.
Blazer + Dressy Shorts
Shorts are a clothing item you might not have thought of wearing with a blazer. Style your blazer with dressy shorts, a tank top, or cami and wedges for a simple fall transition outfit. This combo creates a casual chic fall look while still warm outside.
Blazer + Skirt
It’s a classic pairing that looks chic and polished. The tailored silhouette of the blazer offsets the floaty cut of the midi skirt. This combination of a blazer and skirt is effortless and easy to replicate.
Blazer + Distressed Denim
If you’re looking for an easy way to add a little edge to your wardrobe, try pairing a blazer with distressed or ripped denim. The blazer adds structure and shape to this simple tee, jeans and sneakers look. They go perfectly together because each piece has its unique style.
Blazer + Cigarette Pants
If you’re looking for a more dressed-up outfit that’s also comfortable, try pairing a blazer with tailored pants. It gives off a polished vibe without being too formal. Plus, depending on what you’re doing, it’s easier to wear pants than dresses or skirts.
