What’s in My Travel Tote

Hey everyone! Did you have a good weekend? I was in Rhode Island last week for work and was happy to be home for the weekend with my family! Thank you to Katey & Betsy and Tif for guest posting last week. If you missed their posts, you can read them Here and Here!

I travel for work several times a year and have had a few trip disasters where my luggage was lost. It’s no fun cabbing it to Walmart, the only store open at 6:00 am, to buy everything from toiletriesto clothes. Now for work trips, I pack smarter, lighter and never check my luggage anymore. But, more often than not, the airlines will still check your bag as you are boarding the plane. So, I make sure I have my key essentials in my carry on tote because, you just never know.

I picked up this tote from Sole Society recently. No only is it roomy, it has a zip pouch attached where I can keep my drivers license and phone with my boarding pass to easily access when I go through the security line.

I always break down what I need to pack into categories. Here’s what’s inside!

Essentials:

Wallets that do double duty are perfect for travel. This one zips up, holds my phone and has a wristlet strap. There is nothing worse than walking barefoot through the security line and foldable slipper flats are a lifesaver. I can’t go anywhere without my aviators and they come in handy when you want to take a nap on the plane. Instead of buying junk food at the airport, I bring a healthy snack. I like this trail mix from Target. I’m always dehydrated when I fly so I purchase a large bottle of water after I go through security. Finally, a light sweater or scarf because we all know how cold it can get on a plane.

Entertainment:

My colorful laptop case is made of neuroprene. It’s lightweight and is easier to carry than the standard issue. I keep my headphones and chargers in a makeup bag so they are all in one place. I like to carry on magazines that I can leave for someone else to read when I’m done. Lastly, my Erin Condren planner.

Emergency Kit:

I use a small makeup bag for my emergency kit and it’s full of a few fix me up items. A hairbrush, hair ties and dry shampoo. Lip balm, lipstick, mascara, and facial wipes. Mini toothbrush, toothpaste. Nail file, hand cream, hand sanitizer, mini deodorant and facial wipes. I also carry tissues and tylenol.

What are your carry-on essentials?
