Life Lately: June ’25

What I’ve Been Up To

Hi Friends! Did we blink, and now we’re coming up on the 4th of July? I hope you had a great June! Here’s what I’ve been up to and my life lately in June.

I was hoping to slow down in June, but it was just as busy as every other month so far this year. I kicked off the month hosting my book group. I made a couple of simple appetizers that I thought I’d share in case you’re ever looking for something to make in a pinch.

Boursin & Hot Honey Crostini

Ingredients:

  • 1 French baguette
  • 1 package of Boursin garlic & herb cheese
  • Hot honey (like Mikeโ€™s Hot Honey or a DIY version with honey + red pepper flakes)

Instructions:

Slice the baguette into ยฝ-inch slices and toast in the oven at 375ยฐF for 8โ€“10 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden.

Spread a generous layer of Boursin on each toasted slice.

Drizzle with hot honey just before serving.

Dressed Up Hummus Platter

Base:1 container of your favorite hummus

Toppings:

  • Chopped cucumbers and cherry tomatoes
  • Crumbled feta
  • Kalamata olives
  • Toasted pine nuts

To Serve:

  • Pita chips, naan triangles, bell peppers, or cucumber slices for dipping

I took a day off work to join my daughter and her fiancรฉ in the city to look at several wedding venues. Each one was better than the last as the day went on. I snapped this pic at one of the venues we liked. It was a huge gallery room with murals on every wall.

And if a day full of touring venues wasn’t enough, I hopped on a train back to the suburbs to meet my husband and our friends for the Heart concert at our favorite outdoor venue. The Wilson sisters performed all of the classics, including “Magic Man,โ€ โ€œBarracuda,โ€ and โ€œCrazy on You”.

We also saw Janelle Monรกe and Grace Jones this month at the same venue. Janelle Monรกe opened the night with her signature blend of funk and soul. Grace Jones followed with a theatrical set of her iconic songs. I cannot believe she is 77 and still has an amazing stage presence. My daughter, her fiancรฉ, and my SIL joined us. It was 50 degrees and a chilly but fun evening.

Products I Tried

If youโ€™ve been around here for a while, you already know Iโ€™m a big fan of Laura Geller Beauty, especially because the brand celebrates women over 40. One of my favorite products is her Spackle Primer, and she just launched a new primer to the Spackle collection with SPF 30. Check out Laura Geller Beauty here.

Naot is know for their comfortable footwear and they sent me a pair of their Kayla sandals to celebrate International Being You Day. If you’re looking for an everyday sandal that is comfortable and has arch support, these are ones to check out. They come in 25 color options and fit true to size. Check them out at Zappos or Amazon.

I’m normally not a full coverage foundation girl but IT Cosmetics gift me their CC+ Cream Full Coverage Color Correcting Foundation with SPF 50+ so I thought I’d give it a try.

First round I applied with a foundation brush and it was way too heavy for me. The following day, I applied it with a beauty blender and it was a game changer. I’ve been wearing it all month and love it. You can get it at Sephora or Ulta.

What I’m Watching

Sirens, The Four Seasons, and Secrets We Keep on Netflix were all really good!

I wanted to give a quick shout-out to Angie at Your True Self Blog. She featured me in her recent post on different ways to style a slip dress. Her blog is all about ageless style and encouraging women to wear what they love at any age, which is something I really connect with. You can read the full post here.

What I’m Looking Forward To Next Month

I’m looking forward to my sister being back in town for the July 4th holiday. And, at the end of the month, The Blonde Squad has a long weekend trip planned to a Michigan beach town.
