I’m excited to share my experience withFASHOM, an affordable personal styling service, with you today! FASHOM thrives off body positivity, self-love and they want women to celebrate themselves exactly the way they are. They offer high quality, budget-friendly clothing that is ethically sourced from vendors around the world. There are a few things that stand out and make FASHOM unique to the other styling services out there.
- Your personal stylist provides you with a preview of 9 items and you pick the five that you would like shipped to try on in the comfort of your own home.
- Customers are offered a 25% discount if 3 items are purchased and a 30% discount ifall 5 pieces are purchased. The average cost of an item is between $35 – $50.
- Your first styling session is free, so you can try it risk-free. Then, going forward, the styling fee is only $15, and that is applied as a credit towards your purchase. FASHOM has also recently introduced private video chats with their styling team to get a better understanding of your personal style.
- It’s not a subscription service so you can request as you go.
- FASHOM gives back! For every box sold, they donate $1 to Second Chance Rescue NYC.
I got started by completing a style profile on their website (they also have an app!). The style profile covers sizing, budget, and style preferences. You also let your stylist know your preferences towards different outfit groups. From there, your stylist will get back to you in about 3 business days with nine pieces that she has picked out. The first round of picks was not appealing to me, so I emailed my stylist let her know, and a few hours later, I had a new selection to choose from. Once I made my selections, my box arrived in about 12 days. Note that they do have a $50 credit card hold for first-timers when they sign up. The hold is not permanent – you receive it back once you get your box.
FASHOM offers a $10 credit every time you refer a friend through your referral link, and they order their first shipment. So if you sign up for FASHOM through my referral link, we both get $20 in credit, and your first styling fee is automatically waived!
When I completed my style profile, I let my stylist know that I was specifically looking for short sleeve summer tops and kept the rest up for grabs. Here are the five items I selected (of the nine my stylist picked out for me) and how I styled them.
Exquiss Paris Printed Top – $38. This is my favorite piece from my box! I love the cutout neckline and the mixed print! Verdict: Kept!
Emma & Ella Paris Floral Top – $37. This is a versatile print that you could dress up for work with trousers or a skirt, for a night out with white denim and wedges or keep it casual like I did here with shorts. Verdict: Kept!
THML Striped Embroidered Dress – $58. I didn’t request any dresses but am so glad my stylist picked this for me. It’s lined, the halter style neckline is flattering, and the embroidery detailing is beautiful. Verdict: Kept!
APNY Crepe Kimono – $46. This kimono is more like an oblong scarf with arm holes but it’s just as easy to wear. At first, I wasn’t sure about the print, but then it started to grow on me. Verdict: Kept!
Very J Waist Ribbon Jumpsuit – $44. I really wanted to like this jumpsuit. It’s lined and a decent weight fabric but it just didn’t fit right or look good on me. Verdict: Returned!
Overall I was impressed with the quality and how quickly my stylist swapped out items I didn’t care for. I would definitely use FASHOM again this fall to add a few cold-weather pieces to my closet. If you’re looking for an affordable and unique personal styling service, check out FASHOMhereand save $20 off your first box!
