Yes, that white stuff is snow! We had an all-time record low in Chicago two days in a row this week and let me tell you, I was not ready for the chilling temps when it was time to shoot these pics for 2 ways to style a poncho! My skin turned pink within seconds of being outside. But, it’s going to warm up later this week and 40 degrees never sounded so good!
Anyway, I love a good poncho to keep me warm in the fall and winter. You can find them in just about every color and there’s something about throwing on a poncho that immediately gives off the cozy-chic vibe! Plus, they’re a fun alternative to a jacket. Today I wanted to show you 2 ways to style a poncho and take it from day to night!
For the first look, I layered my poncho over a pencil skirt with workwear in mind. Belting a poncho cinches your waist and gives it shape. Keep the rest of your outfit streamlined to balance out proportions. I choose tall boots but this outfit would look great with ankle boots too!
Styling tip: because ponchos are loose and can be bulky, you want to pair them with slim bottoms.

Keeping with the styling tip above, I went for a grey monochrome look, layering my poncho over skinny jeans. My hat adds a playful element and because of the cold, I opted for another pair of tall boots. Loafers, sneakers or ankle boots would pair nicely with this look too! Which look is your favorite?
