Straight leg jeans have made a big comeback, and I have to say, I’m all for it. I’ll never part ways with my skinny jeans, but the looser fit of straight leg jeans is a refreshing change and just so comfortable. Today I’m sharing my tips on how to style straight leg jeans.
How to Get the Right Fit
You can find full-length straight jeans, but ankle length helps elongate your legs. Ideally, you want them to sit at your ankle bone or right above. The key is to avoid having the bottom of your jeans bunching at your ankles. Opt for a high-waisted pair to help to define your waist and give the illusion of longer legs.
Flats, mules, loafers, heels, sneakers, and booties pair well with straight jeans. While chunky shoes and boots are a huge trend right now, shoes with a pointed or almond toe tend to work better than a round toe because they naturally make your legs look longer. A bootie with a slight heel also does the same trick.
What to Wear on Top
To maintain balance and avoid your outfit losing shape, you want to accentuate your waist. The simplest way is by pairing a waist-length top that hits right above the hips. Bodysuits, fully tucking your shirt, and adding a belt, or opting for a half-tuck all will help to give your outfit definition.
5 Outfit Ideas
Outfit #1: half-tuck an oversized sweater + sneakers.
Outfit #2: bodysuit, belt, cardigan sweater, + almond toe booties.
Outfit #3: tuck in a fitted sweater, add a belt and loafers.
Outfit #4: waist-length top + d’orsay flats.
Outfit #5: half-tuck sweater, belt, and pointed-toe booties.
That’s a wrap! Which outfit is your favorite? Have you embraced the straight leg jean trend?
