How to Accessorize a Black Dress

how to accessorize a black dress

A black dress is one wardrobe staple that has stood the test of time. No matter your style, aesthetic, shape, or size, you probably have at least one black dress in your closet. You can’t beat the versatility of a black dress. Wear them day or night for any occasion. You can easily change up and elevate the look by making a few changes to your accessories. So, today I wanted to share how to accessorize a black dress.

What to Wear with a Black Dress

There are endless ways to remix a black dress. You can change the look by following the 3rd piece rule and layering a blazer, jean jacket, or sweater over it. A blazer will make it more professional; a jean jacket will add a classic touch, and a moto jacket will give it an edgy vibe.

Adding a belt, scarf, or statement jewelry always makes a big impact. And changing your shoes and handbag is another way to dress your outfit up or down. Keep scrolling to see two ways to accessorize a black dress casually.

Black Dress with Bright Accessories

The options are endless when accessorizing a black dress. If you usually shy away from color, adding bright accessories to your outfit is an easy way to add color to your neutral wardrobe.

For this first outfit, I styled my black dress casually with a baseball hat and sneakers. And because we’re seeing green everywhere this season, adding a neon highlighter green bag was a fun addition to this look and a nice contrast.

Green Accessories

My second look is dressier but still has casual vibes with the woven sun hat and flat-heeled sandals. Handbags always pull an outfit together, in my opinion, so I used another green bag to spice up this all-black look. The green and black are a chic color combination, and the colorful bag makes a statement but does not overwhelm the outfit.
