Graduation Guest Outfits

Graduation season is upon us, and it’s always an honor when you’re invited to celebrate a friend’s or family member’s accomplishments and milestones. You have the date on your calendar and bought a card and gift, but have you thought about what you’ll wear? Choosing a graduation guest outfit is similar to picking a wedding guest outfit. You want to look stylish without taking away from the honoree. Keep reading for my tips on what to wear to someone else’s graduation ceremony and three graduation guest outfits.

Tips for What to Wear to a Graduation

You want to balance being dressed up and not too dressed up. Think cute summer dresses, a stylish jumpsuit, or shorts suit.

Instead of matching the school colors, wear something complementary to avoid taking attention away from the grad.

Always go for comfort. Graduations can be long, and you may be sitting for a while. There’s nothing worse than being uncomfortable with what you’re wearing and fussing with your outfit.

Plan for temperature changes. If the ceremony is held indoors, the AC will be blasting, and you’ll need an extra layer. If it’s outdoors, you’ll want to opt for a lightweight or cotton fabric and wear sunglasses and sunscreen.

Solid Dress

Printed Dress

Printed dresses are always a good option as long as the pattern does not make you the center of attention. This black and white dress checks all the boxes with the subtle floral print and wrap style. The 3/4 length sleeves are perfect for keeping you comfortable for those indoor ceremonies with air conditioning.

Shorts Suit

A nice skirt, slacks, and blouse is a safe bet, but why not try a shorts suit? I love the versatility of the shorts suit trend because these pieces can be worn together or separately to create endless outfit combinations for multiple occasions.
