What My Spring Wellness Routine Looks Like Right Now

There’s something about spring that always makes me want to get back into a rhythm. After a winter of heavy meals, cozy nights in, and honestly, not moving as much as I probably should, I start craving more structure. Not in a “new year, new me” kind of way, but just a better version of how I already live. Here’s what my spring wellness routine looks like right now.

Morning Routine

I get up really early, as in 4:30 am early. My favorite way to start the day is with a mug of tea and the NYT puzzles. Just taking a quiet 15 minutes to sip and solve the mini crossword or Wordle before I do anything else. It’s become this simple, grounding ritual that sets the tone for the rest of the day. After that, I usually head to the gym or roll out my mat at home for yoga.

Fitness

This spring, I joined a new gym that offers group exercise classes only, and I’ve been going 5 days a week. It’s been exactly what I needed. I don’t have to think about what to do, I just show up. Some days it’s strength training, others it’s Pilates, cardio, or a mix. Every class is always different, which keeps things interesting.

Once I get home, I grab my dog and we head out for a quick walk through the neighborhood. It’s a great way to wrap up my workout, ensuring that she gets her walk before I get too busy at work.

Light Meals

I’ve always struggled with good eating habits, so I joined a clean-cut challenge at the gym. I’m eliminating sugars, dairy, and processed foods. It hasn’t been easy, and I cheated a little bit on Mother’s Day, but I do feel better. I’ve never been a big veggie eater, so it’s forcing me to eat more of them, and I’ve been really happy with the new recipes I’ve tried.

Better Sleep

Sleep is so important for any wellness routine. Over the winter, I got into the bad habit of staying up too late watching shows. I’ve been swapping screen time for reading for 20 minutes. This little wind-down time helps signal to my body that it’s time to rest. Getting back into a sleep routine has made everything else feel easier, including getting up in the mornings.

Mental Breaks

One of the biggest shifts I’ve made in my wellness routine is building in more mental breaks during the day. It’s very easy to get caught up in work, and the next thing you know, I’ve been sitting for hours. That might mean playing with my pup in the yard, doing 15 minutes of housework, or just getting up from my desk and stretching for a few minutes.

Skincare Refresh

As soon as the temps start warming up, I clean out old makeup and skincare products and swap out my heavy skincare products with something lighter. I’ve always heard rave reviews on Colleen Rothschild products, and I’m currently trying the Glycolic Acid Peel Pads, Vitamin C Brightening Serum, and Sheer Renewal Cream. If you’re interested in checking out Colleen Rothschild products, they’re currently having a friends and family sale with 25% off sitewide.

That’s where I’m at with my wellness routine this spring. I’d love to know what’s been working for you! Let me know in the comments!

What a great wellness routine you have going Jill! I love classes at the gym for the same reason – I don't have to think, I just show up! Cleaner eating always feels so good! When I ate some junk food over my son's graduation weekend I felt awful for days afterwards.

  2. I love that your gym has different workouts everyday. That is so good for your body! Taking out sugar is so hard but good for you for staying clean. I need to take your lead!

As you know, I am a huge fan of sugar as well. But even though it tastes so good in the moment, I know how much better I feel when I stay away from it. Your wellness routine is very similar to mine, the only difference is, I do my workouts at home but I do something different each day and it’s my mind That has to be in the game which luckily it has of late, lol. This was such a great post!

  5. All great suggestions! I'd love to know what time you go to bed to get up at 4:30!! That's so early, but I totally hear you on the quiet alone time setting the tone for the day.
