Fall Goals 2014

With summer coming to an end it's time to think about what I want to accomplish before the end of the year.  I always seem to have a never ending list of projects and goals. I thought if I share them, it will help me focus and I'll be more likely to accomplish the things on my list.

  • Clean out the closets and do a closet inventory.  Every year before we go back to school shopping, I have our daughter go through her closet and purge things that don't fit or that she knows she will not wear anymore.  I  have seen a few other blogger posts on closet inventories and think it's a great idea to really see what you have and what you really need.
  • Decorate for fall and make a fall DIY wreath. I love decorating for fall and making a new wreath for our front door. Once October hits, I decorate for Halloween which is one of my favorite holidays. We try to make our yard scarier every year!
  • Swimming and weight training. While most people start getting in shape in the spring and workout throughout the summer, I do the opposite.  I workout religiously 5-6 days a week most of the year, but the second school is out and my morning routine is different, I can't seem to get to the pool or gym as much as I'd like too.
  • Host a back to school coffee. I always like to try to get together with the other Moms in the neighborhood during the first week of school before our schedules get too crazy. It's nothing fancy, just coffee and a few breakfast treats.
  • Read 1 book a month. I have a long list of books I want to read, yet I have not read a book in months. I'm headed to the library this week and am making sure I carve out time so I can read one book a month.
  • Painting the baseboards.  Our home is 10 years old and is in dire need of some touch ups. I've always done my own painting but painting the trim and baseboards is so tedious and always gets pushed to the bottom of the to-do list.
  • Master bath refresh. We still have the awful builder grade chicklet lighting that came with the home and I have had the paint to update the cabinets for several months. It's time to get these things checked off the list!
I'll keep you posted on how I do!  Thanks for stopping by and reading today!

I'd love it if you followed along with me on FacebookBloglovin or GFC!

  2. Ugh, I can't remember if I already commented this morning on this post and submitted it BEfore getting interrupted.....or If my little guy interrupted me before I got a chance to submit.

In any event, this was a great post and your work out dedication is incredibly inspiring for me. You are one incredible lady!!

Have you ever heard of the blogger Mum's Days? She holds a weekly linky called Mum's List that I think this post would be PERFECT FOR. I've never been able to contribute because I'm having a hard time holding down the fort, but I usually read the bloggers that link up and it is totally original link party!

    Here's this week's link http://mumsdays.com/mums-list-23-honest-mum/ !!

  3. Now I will have to put your list on my fridge... except the mom part.. my kids are over 20...

  4. Such a good idea! I'm with you on reading, I started getting back into reading after a long while last year and now (probably since starting blogging, lol) I've been slacking so I want to get back on it! I have a super long list too.
    Have a great weekend Jill.

  5. I loved reading your goals, Jill! It's motivating, even when I don't necessarily have the exact same ones. The closet clean-out one though...oof. I have a bunch of things I want to list on eBay and just cannot find the motivation. Writing things down definitely helps with that...maybe if I blog about it I'll actually do it! Hope you'll keep us updated- it's a great motivator!

  6. This makes me want to revisit some of my goals I posted months back. Great goals. Rachel xo by the way, I am looking forward to viewing your results.

  7. Oh goodness how I need to clean my closet. I'm with ya girl!! Love getting to read all of your goals :) And I'm really glad I found your blog today! Definitely can't wait to see more of your posts :)

  8. I have been purging our closets for 6 months and am just now getting to the point where I feel like they are ok. I have been using the services of ThreadUp. Have you tried it? I can send you a link if you like. Just let me know. I have sold 2 bags of clothes and done pretty well(: Susan

  9. I love the idea of coming up with a goal list! I have a similar one, but it's more oriented towards things I want to go do or see in the Los Angeles area. I agree that posting goals on a blog and making them "public" might help to keep you focused and also make you more accountable. Good luck!

  10. I was just thinking today that I need a set of goals for fall! I have always felt like back to school time was similar to New Year's - a fresh start. As soon as the weather turns gray and rainy again I'll be tacking the closets.

  11. You have some great goals! I really need to assess my closet because I've added a lot recently, but I need to put some outfits together so I don't waste a lot of time in the morning picking things!

  12. Good luck! This sounds great and is all very positive.

  13. Sounds like great goals :) I want to swim more, and paint :)

  14. My favourite thing EVER is to go through Gwenn's wardrobe and organise it into age and season! I'm sure for a 15 month old, it's a bit excessive but she has more clothes than I do, so it's a bit of fun!!

Visiting from the Mums' List at Mums' Days!

  15. Hello from a fellow #mumslist er would love to see your fall wreath, sounds like a great way to see in the new season!

  16. Great list! I would totally do all :)

  17. Love this… beautiful!
    kisses from Miami,
